Dai Davies is a professional genealogist with a passion for connecting people with their Welsh ancestors. Whether it’s through educational videos, presentations, or private client work, Dai aims to make it clear that finding your Welsh ancestors is possible. Dai has a background in anthropology (MA & BA honours) and uses it to explore ancestral stories, with an emphasis on social identity, local history, and culture. Dai’s personal research focusses on the South Wales working and middle class, nonconformist movements, rural to urban migration, and anyone with the first name Timothy with roots in the Teifi Valley.

You can find much of Dai’s work for free at www.GenealCymru.com and on the GenealCymru YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/GenealCymru), which has reached over one million people.

Authorship

Everything on this site has been written by me, Dai Davies of GenealCymru, unless otherwise noted. I refuse to use Generative AI for many reasons (it’s theft, unreliable, and terrible for the environment), so rest assured that all you read here was written with my own two hands and with the support of the records and scholars who came before me.
